Solo Dolo Dads
Co-parenting & custody stress
The other house, the schedule, the texts that hit wrong. You can protect your kid and still keep your own feet under you.
Ground first
- Before you reply to a charged message: stand up, breathe out longer than you breathe in, wait ten minutes if you can.
- Write the reply in Notes first. Send the version you’d want your kid to find years from now.
- One topic per message. Don’t stack three fights into one thread.
- If it’s not about the child’s health, school, or schedule — it can wait until you’re steady.
Boundaries with a co-parent
A boundary is what you will do — not a rule you enforce on them.
- “I’ll answer parenting logistics between 8am and 8pm. Outside that, I’ll reply the next window.”
- “I won’t discuss our relationship history in front of the kids.”
- “If a call gets heated, I’ll end it and follow up by text.”
Build the wording: Boundary Builder · ask clearly: DEAR MAN
